Reservoir High School Music Department:

Reservoir High School Music Boosters, Inc.

February 25, 2008

Dear Music Department Parents,

As you know, the RHS Music Booster Officers are elected each year in the spring. All four officer positions need to be filled this year as all the current officers have served their maximum terms of two consecutive years in office. The RHS Music Booster Officers are a team along side the Music Department Staff providing the best possible music experience for our students at Reservoir High School. We need the continued support of all parents in the department in every way possible. One of the most important ways to provide that support is by running for Music Booster Office. Anyone who has ever served as a Music Booster Officer in Howard County will tell you what a privilege it is to work with the fine Music Department staffs in the county – that is especially true of the staff at Reservoir High School: Matt Dubbs, Greg Knauf, and Colin O’Bryan.

As a Music Booster Officer you will get to see first hand just how rewarding the music programs are to the students in so many ways - building character, instilling a sense of responsibility, building team spirit - and ultimately enjoying the shear magic of their musical performances. Each Music Booster Officer is given the chance to contribute to this amazing opportunity for our students in ways that most parent members of the Boosters will never be able to appreciate. Being an officer in the Music Boosters is not for the faint of heart. It does involve a lot of work and long hours at times – but the rewards of the experience are truly worth it.

If you have read this far – please keep reading. The next section describes the duties of the four officer positions as described in the RHS Music Booster Bylaws. If you would like detailed information about any officer’s position, please click on the Truth in Advertizing link to read how each of the current Booster Officers describes his/her view of the required skills and commitment needed to fulfill the position. Each officer has also indicated some of his/her thoughts on how the RHS Music Boosters can become even better.

If you are interested in making a significant and direct contribution to the education and character building of not only your student but all the students in the Music Department at Reservoir High School, please consider nominating yourself for one of the Officer positions by contacting any of the Nominating Committee members listed below. Should you have any questions or would like to discuss a particular position in more detail, we would be happy to arrange that as well. If you know of a parent who you believe also shares in the goals of the Music Boosters, please encourage them to consider being nominated as a Music Booster Officer.

We would like to close the first round of nominations by April 5th, so please do not delay.

The next step will be to directly contact the parents of Music Department students to ensure everyone has been given the opportunity to be nominated and to serve as an officer. When contacted, please take the time to fully explore how you could contribute to the Department either as an officer or by volunteering for one of the many committees. Election of Officers will occur at the general Music Booster meeting in May.

Thank you for your time and we hope to hear from many of you soon.

Sincerely,
RHS Music Boosters
Nominating Committee
